Abstract

This volume is the result of a workshop held in Athens in December 1996 entitled Trade and Production in Premonetary Greece: Acquisition and Distribution of Raw Materials and Finished Products. This was the sixth in a series of workshops concerning trade and production in Greece from the Stone Age to the early Iron Age. In the various contributions, several aspects of the issue of acquisition and distribution are discussed and questions are asked such as "where are certain finds found?", "how did they get there?", and "why did they follow the routes they did?". Metals, textiles and obsidian are the materials and products examined here, with two articles concerning archaeological evidence, two textual, and one both archaeological and textual.
