Lithics past and present. Perspectives on chipped stone studies in Greece.
Editor: Paraskevi Elefanti et al.
Volume: M144
Abstract
The editors’ objective in compiling this volume was to bring together a focused collection of papers that would show the current state of lithics research in Greece and suggest where it might be heading. It contains ten contributions by both established and younger scholars on the prehistoric chipped stone industries of Greece, which demonstrate both the sophistication of the sub-discipline and its contribution to understanding ancient life in the Aegean. The papers are arranged according to four broad themes—historical reviews, techno-typological studies, craft specialisation and raw material sourcing. The volume concludes with an English-Greek and Greek-English glossary of lithic terms prepared by the editors.
