Editors: Jennifer Webb & David Frankel
Volume: M137
Abstract
This volume marks the fiftieth anniversary of the founding in 1962 by Paul Astrom of the monograph series Studies in Mediterranean Archaeology (SIMA). It contains several reflections by members of Paul’s family and 14 chapters by members of the SIMA Advisory and Editorial Boards. Some contributions reflect on the achievements of the monograph series and set out important challenges for the future, particularly in regard to the publication of primary data. Others reflect on the style and nature of archaeological site reports, consider specific sites and material published in the series or address more general themes or types of material, including the early prehistory of Cyprus, the identification of Alashiya with Cyprus, Mycenaean material in Cyprus, Cypriot seals and early iron working in the Eastern Mediterranean. The volume includes a full list of SIMA and SIMA Pocket-book publications with indexes to authors and general subjects.
