Monographs
An Index to the Late Bronze Age Aegean Pottery from Syria-Palestine.
Author: Albert Leonard Jr.

Volume: M114

Abstract

Simply stated, this volume attempts to serve four basic functions:
1. To present an indexed corpus of the c. 2300 Late Bronze Age Aegean ceramic vessels and figurines that have been discovered at sites and settlements along the Syro-Palestinian coast;
2. To make Aegean pottery (and the way in which it is studied) less mysterious to those archaeologists working with the Late Bronze Age cultures of Syria-Palestine;
3. To provide archaeologists working in the Aegean area with a tool by which they can readily identify the types of Aegean pottery that were popular in the eastern markets, and thus be able to understand the meaning of that distribution;
4. To assist in defining the nature of the commercial relationships between and among the peoples of the Aegean and the cultures of the Mediterranean with which they traded.
